Angels Among Us

Angel Paintings

In 1987, I saw my guardian angel. I was leaving college apartment for my parents’ home, where I was born and raised. Along my drive, I hit a sheet of black ice, rear-ended a lady in a blue Chevy, bounced off her, and then was stopped upon impact of a snow bank. My face went through the windshield. The next day, I saw her sit up, stand up, look over her shoulder at me as she walked through my parents’ wall! Her face has stayed in my memory so clearly. I wanted to capture her image.
Angel levels:
-
Principalities: shaped, bright rays of light; rainbow-style. They oversee everything.
-
Virtues: Sparks with light/color. Maintains the natural world; takes orders from Angels; makes miracles happen for those deserving. When they make themselves visible here, they are: Musicians, artists, healers, and scientists who work with the Power of Love
-
Gabriel: God’s messenger, “stands in the presence of God.”
-
Dominion: Worker Bees.
-
Cherubim: Golden in color. Guardian to Garden of Eden; God enthroned above them; God rides on them; and 2 of these guard the Ark of the Covenant.
-
Seraphim: Continually worship God in song.
-
Michael the Archangel: Rules with Authority under the Angels.
-
Archangels: Guardians of people; lead to Justice.
I applied gold flakes to represent the Cherubim. The rainbow effect to capture the likeness of Principalities as they can appear. Different bodies can be cherubim, carrying golden lights or color; seraphim are the singing angels; Gabriel is referred to as that which holds dominion, and the archangels as well.
Although there are many ways to capture transparencies, I like the subtle blending and the application of layered colors. The contours and form of my angels, started with the concept of how would I capture the steam emanating from a boiling teapot….then I just kept going.
If you want to add peace and serenity to an area, I highly recommend “Angels Among Us.”
